Martin Proudlove-Gains, Community First Responder

Martin is Guernsey’s first motorcycle volunteer community first responder.  Community first responders receive text alerts on their mobile phone informing them of the location of an incident: if they are available and in the vicinity a Community First Responder will respond to deliver basic life support and defibrillation prior to the arrival of an ambulance. Martin is an advanced motorcycle instructor with over ten years’ instructing experience in Guernsey. His personal motorbike has been equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED) and a first response kit. He also works part time in the St John Health Care shop and volunteers as a member of the Ambulance Reserve with the St John Ambulance and Rescue Service.
