Five clinicians have been awarded the Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support Course (PHTLS) qualification for multi-system trauma treatment. This qualification is recognised world-wide as the leading education program for prehospital emergency trauma care.

The course was held over two days in January and trained our team on essential skills such as rapid assessment of the critical trauma patient, treatment of shock, and fast transportation to hospital.

Qualifications have been awarded to:

Acting Senior Officer – John Le Page
Station Officer – Andy Adam
Acting Station Officer – Nick Peters

Paramedic – Dominic Fletcher
Paramedic – Steve Torode

The importance of recognising the seriousness of a traumatic injury ensures that the best possible care can be provided to patients pre-hospital. After completing the qualification our team have a greater understanding of the responder’s role and responsibilities in injury prevention and how to carry out trauma scene assessment.
