St John Ambulance Guernsey is appealing to local businesses to follow the example of Kings Beauty by supporting work of the charity in the island.

Kings Beauty recently donated £585 to the St John Ambulance Guernsey charity after organising an ‘Indulgence Sunday’ event to showcase a range of beauty treatments and products.

Owner of Kings Beauty Bridget Podger said: “St John is really good local charity, but I think we take it for granted. We just think of St John as just being there when we need it, but people don’t realise the charity needs money to keep doing what it does. There have been so many people working hard behind the scenes this year and we wanted to show our support”.

“We had about one hundred and fifteen people come along to the open day to see demonstrations of the different treatments available and experience some of our facials and massages. We also had a raffle with lots of lovely prizes which added to the money raised,” she added.

St John Ambulance Guernsey Chief Executive Officer Nikki Harrison said: “I’d like to thank Kings Beauty for their support. Every donation makes a huge difference and allows St John Ambulance Guernsey to not only continue with our existing projects, but will also allow us to develop new services in the future”

St John Ambulance Guernsey aims to improve the lives of islanders by providing event first aid, youth activities, Community First Responders, a community library, a Cycle Response Unit, Volunteer Ambulance Reserves and the Flying Christine III. All of these services rely on dedicated volunteers and funding from sponsorship and donations.

“We’d like to encourage local businesses to develop partnerships with St John to help us help the island. I’m hoping other companies will replicate what Kings Beauty has done and support the work of the charity by organising events, making a donation or sponsoring one of our projects. It has been a challenging year because we have had to change the way we do things and the services we offer in response to Covid and at the same time fundraising has been harder. As we go into 2021 we hope local businesses will do what they can to support our work,” added Nikki.
