St John Ambulance Guernsey relies on a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers who give up their free time to provide first aid cover at local events.

Chris Roberts recently joined St John and trained as an Event First Aider, “I was first inspired when I saw an air stewardess friend of mine save someone’s life, right in front of me by doing CPR. I had previously done a first aid course, but the training to become a St John volunteer was very good and I really enjoyed it, so much so that I study continuously in my free time too as I want to learn more and more.”

“My first duty was the Rocquaine Regatta which I loved. We had numerous people walk by and say thank you for being there, which was lovely. We have a great team, everyone is really nice and we all have the same motivation – caring for people and serving the community. I would wholeheartedly encourage anyone of any age to get involved,” he added.
