Paul Kennedy is a familiar face at St John. He is a volunteer first aider, a member of the Ambulance Reserves and a volunteer for the Patient Transport Service.

Paul has just received special recognition for his dedication, enthusiasm and flexibility.

The St John Patient Transport Service had a situation last year whereby it found itself short of staff due to training. When Paul was asked if he could help in anyway he was quick to offer his services and he worked full time for a number of weeks.

A similar situation arose earlier this year, when one of the non-emergency Patient Transport Service staff was promoted within the service. Once again Paul came to the rescue by taking on a temporary contract to assist the service in this important role. As a retiree Paul has gone beyond his duty as a volunteer to help the Service care for patients.

Chief Officer Ali Marquis said “We are very grateful to Paul for his continued support and commitment to the Service, and he has to be commended for the excellent work he has done over the past couple of months, but also the support he gives to the St John organisation as a whole.”
