The annual St John flag day raised more than £1000 to support the work of the charity in Guernsey.
St John Ambulance Guernsey would like to thank the public for their donations and support.
The fundraising event, which takes place every year around St John Day on 24th June, had originally been put on hold due to Covid-19, but as Guernsey moved into Phase 5 of the exit from lockdown plans were quickly put in place for a scaled back version of the flag day this year.
Normally our volunteers would be collecting at nine locations around the island, but due to the changes this year we were only able to collect at two places, outside Waitrose on the Rohais and Earlswood Garden Centre, in the Vale. However despite having significantly fewer locations the flag day raised a total of £1105.59p.
Monies raised from public donations will be used to support the work of St John in the community. As well as providing first aid cover at events St John Ambulance Guernsey also runs a youth section for children aged 5-years-old upwards, a cycle response unit and a community library. During the coronavirus pandemic St John also introduced a number of new initiatives in response to the changing needs of islanders, including a prescription and grocery delivery service, hand sanitiser distribution and the Caring Caller scheme for people who were isolated or lonely.
