The Rainbow Flag is flying at the entrance to the St John Headquarters on the Rohais in support of the Channel Islands Pride event this weekend.

St John Guernsey volunteers will also be displaying rainbow colours when they report for duty at the Pride festival on Saturday. The volunteer first aiders will be providing medical cover for the event, but also want to celebrate the diversity and equality messages of the event by displaying multi-coloured accessories on their shirts.

The St John first aiders will be in and around Market Square in St Peter Port where the live music and entertainment will take place. The St John ambulance vehicle will be located by Sports Direct and will also be decorated with rainbow bunting for the occasion.

Chief Operating Officer of St John Guernsey Nikki Harrison said “As an organisation St John Guernsey promotes and supports inclusion, equality and diversity. While our primary focus will be on providing first aid cover and helping keep everyone at the festival safe, it is also a good opportunity to show our support for the issues that Pride stands for and engage with our community.”

St John volunteers in other parts of the British Isles have also displayed rainbow colours on their uniforms and vehicles at various Pride events there. Guernsey Police are also supporting the event by rebranding a police vehicle in rainbow colours.

Channel Island Pride is organised by Liberate a local charity which supports the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) community.
