St John Ambulance Guernsey has had a busy weekend with duties at the ‘Round the Island Walk’ and the ‘Half Marathon’.

Volunteer first aiders were on duty from early in the morning until the evening on Saturday to provide support for the 700 people who took part in the 39-mile Saffrey Rotary Walk. The annual event raises money for local charities and follows the coastline of Guernsey starting and finishing in St Peter Port.

On Sunday St John volunteers worked alongside professional medical clinicians from the St John Emergency Ambulance Service treating runners in the Guernsey Dairy Father’s Day Half Marathon.

Two SJAG ambulances were mobile around the route during the morning and a SJEAS paramedic ambulance was stationed at the finish line on the Crown Pier.

Every year St John attends more than 100 community and sporting events to provide first aid cover and medical support. This weekend was a great example of staff and volunteers working together, helping improve the lives of islanders. Thanks to everyone who was on duty.
