All future first aid and health and safety training courses run by St John Training Services are now being held at Les Cotils.

The courses, previously held at the St John premises at Les Gigands, are practical and interactive run by a number of highly trained medical professionals.

Managing director of St John Training Services, Steve Ford, said; “St John Training Services is pleased to be forming this new relationship with Les Cotils. By moving to Les Cotils we will be able to take advantage of comfortable, modern training rooms as well as onsite catering and administration facilitates.”

St John Training Services runs a comprehensive suite of first aid training courses aimed at improving vital lifesaving skills in the home, business and the community.  These range from First Aid and Work, Automated External Defibrillation training (AED), Fire Marshalling, Moving and Handling Principles as well as specific courses that focus on children and infants.  St John training qualifications are transferable and recognised by all authorities, charities and companies across the UK.

The local organisation is a leading provider of first aid training in the Bailiwick. Formed in 2005, its professional trainers are qualified to the highest standards to teach life-saving skills. The trainers are often emergency personnel, such as paramedics and fire fighters, and use their skills to explain real life situations to the candidates.

St John Training Services also supports the community.   With funding from Specsavers it has delivered student first aid training to nearly 14,500 primary school students since the scheme began in 2008.  It also supports the Health Promotion Unit’s ‘Safety Calling’ challenge and runs the vital ‘Biker Down’ community training as well as all first aid training for the other emergency services (Town Fire, Airport Fire, Police, Border Agency and the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre).

Vanessa Spiller, Chief executive officer to Commandery St John Ambulance Guernsey said; “As a not for profit organisation, income we receive from our courses goes straight back into supporting St John, therefore the benefits of choosing our training extends way beyond our organisation.”
