Volunteers from the St John Inshore Rescue Boat crew have been thanked for their commitment and dedication at a farewell & presentation evening.

Chief Officer of the St John Emergency Ambulance Service Ali Marquis also thanked the families of the crews past and present for their support.

The IRB service was disbanded at the end of the summer as St John in Guernsey following a review of the organisation and is part of the future vision for St John, which looks at core activities such as the Emergency Ambulance Service, Medical Event Cover, the Health Care Shop, Patient Transport, First Aid Training and Youth work. It also allows for development of community services in the future.

The volunteers were presented with a framed photograph of the Inshore Rescue Boat in action by Chairman of the Ambulance & Rescue board Steve Le Page.

The RNLI are now planning a trial of a new inshore boat for Guernsey.
