The St John marine ambulance has been deployed three times in three days for emergency calls in Sark & Herm.

On Saturday the Flying Christine III was dispatched by JESCC (the Joint Emergency Services Control Centre) for a female patient with a medical condition. A paramedic and technician from the emergency ambulance service assessed the patient in Herm and transferred them back to St Peter Port and onto the emergency department of the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

The marine ambulance was back in Herm on Monday afternoon at the request of the Herm first aiders for a male patient who required further assessment for a medical complaint and transfer to hospital. The medical crew rendezvoused with the casualty at Rosaire steps before assessing the patient and taking them onto hospital in Guernsey.

The third call happened on Monday evening when the Sark doctor requested the Flying Christine to collect a patient with a medical condition. The St John paramedic crew met the Sark Ambulance at the harbour and following a handover transported the patient back to St Peter Port. The female was given pain relief by paramedics on the return journey to Guernsey and was then taken by waiting road ambulance to ED.

On each occasion the Flying Christine was crewed by a volunteer skipper and engineer, with an additional navigator on the evening crossing. St John Ambulance Guernsey would like to thank the volunteers who gave their time to assist the clinical team during these incidents.
