Emergency Ambulance Service clinicians have taken part in a training exercise at St Peter Port Harbour.

The scenario involved the Guernsey Fire & Rescue Service turntable ladder being deployed to rescue a casualty who had been taken ill at the top of one of the harbour cranes.

St John Emergency Ambulance Service medics worked with colleagues from Fire & Rescue Service to access the casualty before treating him for his mock symptoms and using a basket stretcher and the turntable ladder to get the patient safely and promptly to a waiting ambulance on the ground.

An Ambulance Incident Officer and Observer also took part in the exercise to test ‘command and control’ and joint working principles.
