Congratulations to Ben Adam and Brad Stuckey who have recently completed the first stage of their training to become Emergency Care Assistants with St John.

Our two new Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) are now working with St John Emergency Ambulance Service, supporting Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians on ambulance calls around Guernsey.

The pair have passed their initial assessment, having undertaken eight weeks of training, covering all clinical aspects of emergency ambulance work from knowledge of anatomy and physiology, to patient care and dealing with a cardiac arrest. They will now complete a series of periodic assessments before being fully qualified as ECAs.

Both Ben and Brad had previously been working for St John on the Patient Transport Service before moving the Emergency Ambulance Service. Brad is also a volunteer Community First Responder. He first got interested in first aid as a St John Cadet and more recently as an adult volunteer. Ben has recently moved back to the island to embark on a new career and is looking forward to progressing as a clinician in the years ahead.
