Congratulations to Deputy Chief Ambulance Officer Dean de la Mare who this week, celebrates 20 years with the emergency ambulance service in Guernsey.

Mr de la Mare joined the organisation as a patient transport service (PTS) attendant in 1999 and became a first tier ambulance practitioner two years later. Dean then qualified as a Paramedic before being promoted to the role of Officer. He was appointed Deputy Chief earlier this year.

Although Dean has worked for the ambulance service for 20 years, his connection with St John goes back more than 40 years having joined the junior section of charity at the age of eight before becoming a  St John Cadet. He later became a Cadet and Youth Leader and completed hundreds of hours on public duties.

In 2017 Dean de la Mare was appointed as an Officer of the Order of St John in recognition of his long and dedicated service.
