On 6th June the St John Marine Ambulance ‘Flying Christine III’ travelled to the Island of Sark (one of the smaller Channel Islands situated nine miles to the east of Guernsey) with Chief Officer Jon Beausire and The Knight Commander of St John in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, Captain Peter Voute, to make a presentation to Sark resident Mrs Dorothy Taylor.  Mrs Taylor has raised in excess of £100,000 over the past fifty years for the Marine Ambulance funds.  Mrs Taylor was presented with a special recognition certificate and an award on behalf of the Order of St John.  Mrs Taylor is the proprietor of The Mermaid Tavern, Sark and has donated the entrance fees from regular discos and money collected in charity boxes since she began fundraising in the 1960’s.
