Ambulance officers from Guernsey’s St John Ambulance & Rescue Service recently attended the Joint Emergency Service Interoperability Programme (JESIP) course which was held in Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands.  The attending officers will form part of Guernsey’s emergency services  “JESIP” Training Team.  Their responsibility will be to ensure that the initial response to major incidents is more organised, structured and practiced, as well as ensuring that the working practices of Guernsey’s blue light services are constantly updated, learn from past events and move towards a more dynamic response in the future.

The emergency services are admired and respected around the world for the excellent service they provide.  With the current demands being placed upon these services, JESIP has been set up to provide joint interoperability principles and gain a greater understanding of the functions of all emergency services.  JESIP is designed to ensure improvements are made in how police, fire and ambulance services train and respond to major incidents and ultimately save more lives.
