Tis the season to #partysafe

St John Ambulance and Rescue Service are urging islanders to plan a happy yet safe time this festive season.

Every year the service is called to help more and more people who have become unwell or have had an accident through drinking too much over Christmas and the New Year.

St John Ambulance and Rescue Chief Officer, Jon Beausire said; “We know everyone likes to let their hair down at Christmas and enjoy the socialising that comes with it, but it’s easy to get carried away and have one drink too many, which could leave you having a Christmas to remember for all the wrong reasons. We will be posting a number of reminders on our social media pages about how to enjoy the season but to remember to take care and think about safety.”

If you are out celebrating this year make sure you look after your friends and colleagues and know how you are getting home at the end of the night. Consider booking a party somewhere that serves meals or snacks or make sure you eat before you go out and stick to safer drinking levels.

“Many people are risking their health by regularly drinking too much and probably don’t realise that they’re drinking more than they should be. That’s why it’s more important than ever to remember to drink sensibly over the festive season,” said Mr Beausire.

So why not make a few New Year’s resolutions in advance?  Enjoy a merry and safe Christmas.
